On 13 May 2025 the ICO published updated draft guidance on encryption for public consultation.
The guidance has been updated to follow the ICO’s recent “must, should, could” scheme and the encryption in practice section has been updated to “reflect the current state of technology, especially Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) which we expect all organisations to use.”
