ICO updates guidance on data subject access requests

The ICO has updated its guidance on data subject access requests in line with the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 to set out that the requirement in relation to searches for documents is to perform a reasonable and proportionate search and to state that where you ask for clarification in relation to a request, the time limit pauses on the day you request clarification and resumes on the day after you receive it. This is referred to as ‘stopping the clock’.

The guidance can be found here.
