American Privacy Rights Act update

The American Privacy Rights Act markup by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce due to take place on 27 June 2024 was cancelled at the last minute with reported opposition to the latest draft from various corners. It is not clear when this will be rescheduled, although the committee chair confirmed she will continue to fight to pass the bill.

Appetite for data privacy regulation certainly seems to be increasing in the U.S, with 20 states now having enacted their own legislation on the subject.
