Digital Omnibus on AI formally agreed

The Council of the European Union has given the Digital Omnibus on AI the green light! On 29 June 2026, the Council confirmed the agreed text had been approved and will come into force 3 days after being published in the official journal.

This means the deadlines for complying with the obligations for high risk systems will move back to:

  • 2 December 2027 – for standalone systems

  • 2 August 2028 – for systems embedded in certain products
