ICO finalises guidance on anonymisation and pseudonymisation

On 28 March 2025 the ICO published new guidance on anonymisation and pseudonymisation. The guidance covers:

  • The key concepts of pseudonymisation and anonymisation
  • Identifiability (including the “reasonably likely” and “motivated intruder” tests)
  • How pseudonymisation can assist in compliance
  • Accountability and governance requirements for anonymisation
  • Case studies covering recruitment analytics and market insights
