On 5 February 2026, the ICO fined MediaLab.AI Inc. (MediaLab), who own the social media platform Imgur £247,590, for failing to implement appropriate safeguards to protect children’s personal data. MediaLab was found to have failed to assess the age of its users and therefore failed to obtain parental consent for users under 13 years old. They also failed to conduct a DPIA.
