Privacy issues at X

X (formerly Twitter) is facing challenges to its privacy practices from a couple of sources.

The EU commission has commenced proceedings under the Digital Services Act in relation to “risk management, content moderation, dark patterns, advertising transparency and data access for researchers.”

A summary of the proceedings can be found here.

Meanwhile, noyb has issued a complaint against X with the Dutch data protection regulator in relation to its advertising targeting practices, claiming that X has unlawfully used religious beliefs and political views for targeted advertising purposes.

More information on noyb’s complaint can be found here.
