ICO issues guidance on data protection in content moderation

The ICO has produced some detailed guidance on data protection in content moderation.

The guidance doesn’t place additional obligations on organisations but runs through the requirements of the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 and applies the same to content moderation.

This guidance is a must read for organisations who undertake content moderation. As with other ICO guidance it contains examples which may be useful if you are struggling with a particular compliance issue. It is worth noting, however, that the guidance is not comprehensive and contains a section outlining the areas that it does not cover.
