US and UK agree a memorandum of understanding on AI safety

On 1 April 2024 the US and UK announced a partnership in relation to AI safety. The two countries will work together to develop tests for AI models. This follows on from the AI safety summit in November 2023.

The countries will be working towards aligning their scientific approaches and have laid out plans to build a common approach to AI safety testing. They will also be sharing information about the capabilities and risks associated with AI models and systems as well as technical research on AI safety and security.
