Backlash against Meta’s decision to introduce paid for service

The Guardian reports that the European Consumer Group BEUC have filed a complaint with the EU’s network of consumer protection authorities in relation to the introduction of a paid for version of Instagram and Facebook, calling the prices “very high” and stating Meta is using “unfair, deceptive and aggressive practices.”

NOYB have also filed a complaint against Meta with the Austrian data protection authority, questioning the validity of the consent given where the alternative is the payment of a fee.
