ICO “make a subject access request” service

The ICO has launched a “make a subject access request” service on its website.

The service allows individuals to generate and send an email to an organisation, requesting access to personal data.

It will be interesting to see how much use is made of it, but it might be good for organisations as it prompts individuals to provide useful information to assist with the access request. The email will come from noreply@ico.com and includes links to guidance on responding to subject access requests.

The organisation is advised they should respond to the named individual (rather than the ICO) and the ICO will not be automatically copied into any response.
